About SuzyQ and the Q’s

I am a married, stay at home, homeschooling 30+ish mother of two boys GammaQ (02/02) and RhoQ (01/05). We live in the metro Atlanta area and I also attended high school and college in the metro area. I currently run a real estate investing company with QueenQ (my mother) and SisterQ (my younger sister). I am married to Dr. Q, my best friend and the love of my life.

In a prior life I had a Career in Computer Science Education. I totally miss working with and around students (especially grad students), and engaging in academic discussion. I totally love missing the political garbage that goes on at a Top Research School. And working with people who don’t care about their jobs.

My interests include: reading (just about anything that is printed), cooking (but not cleaning up), homeschooling and education PreK-PhD, keeping my sanity as a SAHM, toxic-free products and environments, organic food, sustainable living, inflammatory breast cancer, diabetes, allergy and asthma, international travel, frugal living and budgeting, saving and investing, real estate investing, home renovation, and most importantly spending time with my family and friends.

My dislikes include: Anyone who doesn’t live by the golden rule, rude shop clerks, misbehaving children, people who prey on the poor and/or elderly, any type of abuse towards a child, American consumerism, credit cards and borrowing money, and politicians who can’t do math.

My goals with this blog are to (1) resume writing to keep my brain from turning to mush, (2) have some interaction with well educated adults (especially other mothers), (3) work through some of my ennui about being a stay at home mom, and (4) hash through random topics that take my fancy.

SuzyQ is not my real name, but a nickname my father used for me when I was a child. Also, my kids are not really named Gamma and Rho, though my husband does merit the title Dr (PhD not MD). We do live in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA,
